Happy Easter!

Yes, I'm staying up late tonight, because I don't have to get up early for work tomorrow!

You, too, can enjoy more time off if you work in the public schools!  Go for it.

Happy Easter to all!

I hope you had a nice Easter break. Since you work in a public school system I was hoping you would tell me what type of professional development they offer their OTs, PTs, and SLPs.

Thank you for your comment. In the past, when funding was better, we usually chose a conference to attend once a year and were reimbursed up to a couple of hundred dollars for registration fees, travel, expenses. For the last several years we can request time off with pay and attend conferences but the costs are usually paid by the individual. Sometimes there are free conferences offered by local pediatric hospitals and we are given paid time off to attend these. Within our school division we can take free courses after work hours that are presented by our staff development department; the courses are primarily for teachers and administrators and I've taken many technology courses over the years which has been very helpful for work and for personal use. This year another OT and I have presented three inservice for our staff and our supervisor works with our staff development for the whole division to provide credit for attending these. Hope this helps!
